What this OVA is actually just a continuation of Minami-ke Okaeri. You need to know your Minami-ke before viewing this or you would not understand a lot of it.

The only trouble is that Minamie was a good series (S1 anyway) then it went downhill from there. If this OVA is meant to save it from obscurity, then it failed big time since there is nothing new here. It does seem that the makers still want to get more from the Minami series.

I'm amazed that they can keep churning out more Minami-ke. In any case, this is essentially a 1-ep OVA featuring a lot of characters in yet even more slice of life situations. There are a few laughs in this <30 min ep but nothing special.

If you've made it this far in Minami-ke (meaning Minami-ke + Okawari + Okaeri) then this ep isn't bad. If you were tired of Minami-ke and wanted a redeeming short ep, this isn't it.

Minami-ke OVA is a one episode anime in the Minami-ke series occurring after Minami-ke Okaeri. Sadly, its storyline is as stale as in the episodes of Okaeri, and its production quality is equally as low.

As mentioned before, the production quality of this OVA is as low as Minami-ke Okaeri. As a result, the animation is very limited; the character designs are overly simplified; and there are constant graphical mistakes and inconsistencies throughout the episode. As a fan of Minami-ke before it had changed its production studio and management team, this is yet another blow to me, and I have lost all confidence in the series.

Although the quality of the voice actors are still top-notch, the dialogue they have to perform is simply a waste of talent. The dialogue in the anime is boring and overly repetitive, just as it was in Okaeri. The theme songs are new and decent, but they are far from the excellence that were the songs of the first series.

Those wishing for an improvement in the storyline from Okaeri will have their hopes dashed. The three short stories covered in the episode do nothing to further develop the storyline of the series and instead just repeats the same awfully overused themes from the previous series. This OVA feels just like another episode from Okaeri, if not worse.

Featuring the same cast of lovely characters from the previous Minami-ke series, it is hard to believe how their personalities can degrade even further. The repeated story further worsens the already stale and boring personalities of the characters, which is a real shame.

For those who haven't seen Okaeri, this OVA can be summarised as bring repetitive, dull, and incredibly slowly paced. Added with the overly simplistic looking character designs, this OVA can honestly be compared to a low budget Hentai. Viewers who enjoyed Okaeri would have a valid excuse to watch this OVA. The only other reason would be if you wished to further lower your opinion of this once brilliant anime.
