| Schleimige Kreaturen die einem Monster- oder Tentakelrape-Hentai entsprungen zu sein scheinen, tauchen aus dem Nichts auf und greifen junge Mädchen an, riesige Mechas stapfen in bester Godzilla-Manier durch die Stadt und Girls mit Superpower kabbeln sich mit Cyborgs. Iczer 1 ist in so gut wie allen Belangen ein Sammelsurium aus den typischsten Geflogenheiten des Sci-Fi-Alien-Combat-Mecha-Genres und präsentiert sich dementsprechend auch wenig kreativ und kein bisschen abwechslungsreich. Die Story ist extrem simpel und nährt sich von der altbekannten „Außerirdische Invasoren bedrohen die Erde und nur die starke Heldin kann sie besiegen“-Klamotte. Die Episoden verlaufen fast alle nach demselben monotonen Schema und kurzen Auseinandersetzungen mit ekligen Tentakelmonstern folgt der abschließende Endkampf gegen einen feindlichen Supermecha, der natürlich standesgemäß mit großem Knall zu Gunsten des Hauptcharakters entschieden wird. Die Action gönnt sich kaum eine Pause und die wenigen Verschnaufpausen die sich die OVA dazwischen gönnt, werden nicht genutzt um die Handlung evtl. zu vertiefen oder den Cast zu entwickeln. Wenn die Action-Szenen wenigstens unterhaltsam wären, wäre das vielleicht nur halb so schlimm aber die Battles sind entweder zu kurz oder bestehen nur daraus das 2 Riesenroboter aufgeladene Energiebeams austauschen. Am schwächsten ist die finale Schlacht ausgefallen, so was Billiges hab ich lang nicht mehr gesehen… Unter spektakulär verstehe ich persönlich zumindest etwas anderes. Die Charaktere sind so platt wie Oblaten und können kein Fünkchen Entwicklung vorweisen, vielleicht mal abgesehen von der typischen Wandlung des Hauptcharakters der zuerst nur am plärren ist und nicht kämpfen will, sich aber kurz darauf doch dafür entscheidet für das Wohl der Menschheit sein Herz in die Hand zu nehmen. Die Motive der Figuren sind herkömmlich (z.B. Rachegelüste oder „Ich existiere nur um DICH zu töten“) und die im Mittelpunkt stehende Figur Iczer 1 hat noch nicht einmal eins. Kurzum: Diese OVA ist von vorne bis hinten unspektakulärer Standardkram und kann dank einer leicht vorhersehbaren Handlung, flachen Figuren und langweiliger Action in keinem Punkt großartig überzeugen.

| i'm sorry to say that the person who previously reviewed this obviously has no appreciation for classic anime.
iczer-1 is one of the first series i saw, and even though i only saw the crappy english dubbed version (that's all that was available) i still loved it. since then i have purchased the region 2 DVD's so i could truly apprecite it.
well i must say the japanese version is simply a work of art. spanning 3 episodes and a "movie", it is short but sweet. since then there has been the 6 part OVA iczer-3 and the 2 part OVA iczelion. i like them all, but iczer-1 is the best!
poor nagisa, she's having the worst luck ever. the earth has been taken over by aliens, and everyone she knows is dying left and right. iczer-1, a beautiful being has chosen nagisa as her "partner". together they battle to save earth.
i like all of the characters, especially iczer-1 and iczer-2. nagisa is cute and i didn't find her annoying (though i'm sure many people would).
the animation, for it's time, is awesome. the designs are beautiful. there is a lot of gore, so be prepared.
the music is VERY good. it's not for everyone, but i own the soundtrack and enjoy it.
watch this if you can apprecite anime from the 80's. it's one of my favorites.

| I remember seeing this on the shelf of one of the local library branches and neglecting it, simply because the artwork looked old. I eventually borrowed it but I wouldn't have been missing out on anything if I had left it on the shelf everytime I saw it. Its another generic mecha show with a bunch of female pilots. The only thing memorable is Nagisa's awful design. Mech designs are more attractive, but overall, the artwork and animation are well below par. Storyline is more arcane save the world crap, but since the characters don't have a shred of development, who cares? There is supposed to be a 2nd tape to the show which the library doesn't have, but trust me, I'm in no hurry to go look for the last volumes.

| Iczer one is a good old sci-fi/horror anime with cool mecha designs, good fights and an average story.
