The animation in this movie isn't up to today's standards, especially the backgrounds and the fight scenes.

The voice-overs by Keifer Sutherland and Elizabeth Berkeley were pretty terrible, and only reenforce my view that all dubs are horrible. The "acting" was stale and had no feeling in it; it really ruined the movie. (The subs were not available in the version I watched) The soundtrack was ok but not too great, and could have been better.

The story was pretty good; delves into the nature of robots as humans and contains a fair few plot twists and surprises to keep the story interesting. It is pretty obvious that some scenes were cut out from this movie in the translation from the OVAs, and the movie does lack a bit in background, especially of Armitage herself and how she became a cop. Also, the story lacked a bit of originality, as the whole human vs. robot conflict has been rehashed so many times in the past 20 years.

The characters were decent, though they were ruined a bit by the terrible voice acting. Armitage was an interesting character and developed well over the course of the movie; Ross develops and grows as well, as is seen in his relationship with Armitage.

Overall, this anime isn't too original or great, and I wouldn't reccomend it to anyone, and I will probably never rewatch it. I didn't even get too much enjoyment out of it.

Since I enjoyed Battle Angel Alita a lot and also found some parts of GITS satisfying too I knew after the first 10 minutes that I'd like this anime. In fact Naomi Armitage surpasses Motoko and Alita in sexiness, if it werent for the english dub that reduced her character a lot.

The animation and sound were very good, the action scenes also, only problem was that they had to squeeze so many cyberpunk literature in 90 minutes, thus making a mess. I didnt pay any attention to the story and just focused on the action scenes and the amazing animation (especially of Armitage) and only then did the anime turn enjoyable. It mattered also that I rented the title.

Overall an enjoying title but I wouldnt buy or download it. Or else the frustration would increase and I'd give it much lower scores. There's also an OVA and a 2001 movie. Well for me one movie is enough so no more Armitage. Except if there's a manga.

Overall good enjoyment, very low value.

Armitage III Polymatrix is a movie edited from the OVA of 4 episodes. The cut hit deeply the story, that is not clear and in some points is confusing. The tried to add some little new sequences, but the result wasn`t good.
The animation suffer of the time and the little budget that they had for this work. It is not very fluid too.
The story is a bad reassuming of the story of the OVA with a new final sequence. I have to say that I liked more the original ending.
The sound is good, with good music and discrete sound effects.
The character is the best thing, but only because is the same of the OVA. Naomi Armitage is fantastic, but in this movie the characters seem to be flat, without spirit.

Armitage Polymatrix isn`t a really enjoyable movie. The story suffer too much of the editor`s cut. Watch Armitage III, the OVA: that is a very good sci-fi anime!

A very derivative sci-fi anime. This movie was edited from the 4 episode OVA, and in the the process they cut about 25 minutes out of the orginal OVA. I have not seen the OVA. The edits in the movie are horrible, there are obvious pieces missing, and the ploting is completely out of whack.

I did like the character of Armitage, the sure cocky little *Spoiler* that she is. I enjoyed the final showdown at the end. I suppose I need to try to get ahold of the OVA and see if it better. seems like it has to be.

I had to watch the dub, because the movie was released dubbed only, and quite frankly, I am against dubs, and this movie is just another brick in the wall. The English voice acting is ridiculous, Elizabeth Berkley can't act her way out of a paper bag.

Final score: Not recommended. perhaps think about watching the OVA instead.

This one i was barely able to watch because of the somewhat corny style that seems to affect every single character and action sequence presented.

The main characters are far too predictable. For instance, it's quite easy to guess the true nature of Armitage from her first sentences at the beginning of the movie. This, normally, should have been hidden with more skill, at least till a little later in the movie. Most characters have very shallow backgrounds and express very few coherent emotions. For some it might be believable but most of the time it comes out as annoying at best.

The story? It's a corny Blade Runner copy-cat with very few spices of innovation. This renders a movie without any original philosophies or morales and makes you yawn in the end. In other words, the science-fiction material is delivered in a "fast-food" style. The action and progression of the script is fast and choppy and makes the hole thing taste cheesy.

The animation is very dissolved. It is quality art, but some passages have been drawn with time in mind. Visual effects are sometimes very cheap and sometimes top notch. Characters have a minimum of articulation, but there isn't anything special worth mentioning. The same can be said for sound effects and soundtrack. Some of it is good, but there's a lot of botched work.

I don't recommend Armitage. It's simply too commercial and i prefer works of originality and diversity. It was obviously made to occupy some slot on the market. Its message has been explored countless times before its release.

You are not missing anything, move along.

Pretty thoroughly terrible, Armitage has to be one of my very least favorite anime movies. The main reason for this is that the entire thing is carved up like a Thanksgiving turkey lovingly sliced by a blind Turkish football player with a chainsaw. The result is a film that feels rushed, shallow, spastic, and in places, borderline incomprehensible.

This anime has some potential but flounders in its reliance on a cheesy love story. The animation is alright; (Armitage is pretty hot) overall decent animation for the time period. The story as I said is killed by the tail of love, the robot human aspect has been done in the be all, end all “Blade Runner. Characters: Armitage=hot, Ross=lame. The fights and reveals make this anime watchable, it could have been much better if it focused more coherently on these aspects as well as the earth/mars relationship. Sound is forgettable. Maybe watching the OVA would provide a better view of the few assets that this anime has, but I refuse to pay for it again. Overall this is one of Konaka’s worst pieces of writing.

Here's an old school Sci-Fi anime for the completists out there.

Nothing spectacular in the animation, but it's not bad either. The story is unique enough that you haven't heard of anything exactly like it before, and it's probably the best part of the movie.

Nothing that will move or shock, but it's a decent addition to the collection of someone looking for a good sci-fi story.

A mediocre to below average anime in all respects. It tries to cover simular ground as "Ghost in The Shell" but falls woefully short in story, animation and character. Even the main character Naomi Armitage takes on a Major Motoko Kusanagi look with her hot pants and shades.

One of the few Animes that I rented from Blockbuster that wasn't Pure Crap. It wasn't smash the VCR bad, it wasn't all that great. I have to admit, it amused me at times, but overall it was JUST AVERAGE. Nothing spectacular about this one.

Note: One of the few Anime movies that didn't have ear-bleeding Dubbed voices. They weren't great, but Keifer Sutherland played one of the characters.

All-in-all, if you are desperate, I suppose it is worth seeing.

I really liked this anime. Although small parts were cut from 4 episode OVA series, this is a great package as a 90 minute movie. Armitage is amiable, if you can deal with Berkley's voice that is, and the story is worth paying attention to. A great rental movie if you ask me.

Pros:
-Stunning visuals(when released)
-Great pacing
-Above average sound track

Cons:
-Ross Syllavus is ANNOYING!!
-Some scenes from OVA were cut

Armitage has long been one of my favorite animes. It's hard to describe much of the story without giving away at least small bits of the plot, I'll be rather brief. The basics of the story is about a cop, Ross, who travels to Mars and meets a female officer named Naomi Armitage. They get involved in solving a murder case involving a famous country singer.

The singer is found to be, shockingly, a machine. Issues are brought up about robots and the rights of machines. The robots are divided into various types, Seconds and the rumored mysterious Thirds take center stage. Many questions are raised and debated as the story progresses, it's very well written and thought out.

Ross himself is pretty much a normal Earth cop. He's calm and calculating where Naomi is quicker to act and fight. They make quite a great team. Ross pretty much gets dragged into the whole mess and keeps things well grounded. He stays cool under pressure and generally makes for one tough cop. Naomi is from the very outset a hardcore energetic fighter. She gets the job done using her own methods and lets no one stand in her way. If you make it through this movie without a soft spot for Naomi, you need to watch it again.

As the story progresses, clues appear and we dig deeper into the backgrounds of Ross and Naomi. The characters forge a friendship with new characters and enemies become clear and yet mysteries shroud everything. It will keep you guessing all the way through.

All in all, It's a very interesting anime that has managed to stay one of my absolute favorites for many years. It's well written, has plenty of action, and very memorable main characters. If you've never seen it, give it a shot. You'll have a great time.

Unfortunately, it falls into the same category as Blood: The Last Vampire and Ghost in the Shell, where the animation quality takes precedence over story development. Great character designs and animation cannot make up for the Armitage story, which is not only predictable, but clichéd and inconsistant. Elizabeth Berkeley is at best an okay actress, but having her voice Armitage for the English dub was a bigger mistake than having Drew Barrymore in Titan AE. She doesn't have the voice for this kind of thing.

I found it flashy but boring...

A very good and classic anime. The story isn't as complex as Ghost in the Shell but it's another aspect of Cyber-punk in animation and develop another point of view.
It's in fact the first anime I love and I advise everybody to watch it once to make is own opinion.
