| It was about 10 years ago when i first saw a movie of lupin the 3rd on MTV and i had my first impression of what anime is like. I enjoyed it though i was sceptical about what to think about the whole thing. Now 10 years later i learned about the tv series and i LOVE it!!! It is like meditating while watching anime. Simplistic dialogues mixed with some hilarious, unrealistic action packed scenes made me feel comfy in front of the screen. Though every episode is about the same with Lupin trying to steal something of worth to him, it just never lets down. The characters are adorable. Lupins´ voice acting is great and i dont know if it is just old-fashioned way of dubbing or its just a unique talent of the voice actor but it is probably the best i ever heard. The other characters Jigen and Goemon also add to the funny lead characters who somehow seem to meet Fujiko Mine by coincidence in every and each episode. These "Fantastic Four" jump into 23 episodes of repetitive actions with no real meaning.
Overall Lupin the 3rd 1st season somehow surprised me because i thought i would stop after watching the beginning. It is done in 1971 and that is 15 years before i was born but i discovered that the humour of lupin is still quite actual and one step ahead of his own era. I dont know how successful this anime has been in the 70´s but due to the actual movies airing in 2008 i think it must have been huge. So wat else to say to sum it up?! To make it short: NO STORY, LOTS OF FUNNY SCENES, LIKEABLE CHARACTERS AND A GREAT VOICE ACTING make it an all-time classic which shouldnt be forgotton and rewatched by all of the lupin fans. For everyone else who needs some alternate to the usual bad quality anime of today which are not funny at all at most, lupin the 3rd is a sure catch!!!

| Unfortunately I had never the chance to watch a single episode of Lupin back in the 80's, the date where it would have impressed me the most like many other classic animes. I watched recently some episodes from the second season (1977-80) and I must say this is a very funny anime with plenty of action despite its age.
Influenced by all those TV decective shows of the 70's we have Lupin, the thief of the century together with a karate and sword expert, a gunman and a woman that is master in disguises. In each episode they try to steal money or other valuable posessions, or to prevent a catastrophe. A japanese detective is trying to catch them in each episode.
What really makes the series exciting is that they travel all over the world. Every episode takes place in a different location. The humour and wit is amazing. In one episode the detective had a row in an Israeli airport because no plane was flying to Arab countries. The reply he gets is 'why should an Israeli airplane fly to an Arab country?''. I've never seen something similar in satire. In another they lift with a chopper the huge statue of Jesus in Rio de Janeiro and the statue smiles at them!. Much other crazy stuff occurs.
The characters are perfect for action and comedy. They are hilarious and the voice actors are of the best I heard.
Too bad I watched some episodes almost 30 years afterwards. Or else I'd give it a much higher score since this is a classic

Based on over 70 episodes i've seen Lupin strikes me as a one trick pony. However, it never gets old to me. Mainly , i watch this for the comedy.
Overall Lupin the Third is a great classic with a nice variety of situations, places, witty dialogues and jokes. It's the only anime besides Trigun that I liked episode previews of.

| Lupin the third is a classic anime that has some very interesting plot twist and characters. It is like scooby doo meets cowboy bebop. What could be better than that.

| This is an older anime so the animation is dated. What I really liked in this anime were the heists. I like how Lupan plans out his schemes. This is certainly an anime for guys. This anime revolves around action, cars, robbery, and hot women. A "fun" anime.

| Lupin ist ganz unterhaltsam konnte mich aber nicht immer begeistern, manche Episoden waren extrem langweilig. Der Zeichenstil ist alt aber in Ordnung und die Characktere sind ganz lustig, besonders Lupin hat diesen gewissen Charme den man einfach mag. Coole Sprüche und dezente Action aber nicht der ganz große Wurf...

| One of the ultimate anime classic. Timeless characters, ones of the coolest ever created. Old school anime with plenty of gags, imaginative story lines and catchy jazzy funky music. My fave of all time.
