| Gravitation is just not the anime for me, I did watch it all the way though and I liked some parts but overall I was disappointed. I really loved the first couple episodes a lot but after that it was pretty downhill and the ending was random and odd, it felt like there was rush to resolve both of the story lines in a positive way and it ended up feeling a little kitsch (like the epilogue to the last harry potter book).
I really enjoy shonen-ai/yaoi, I've seen a lot of it and I guess I'm critical. But, the character development in Gravitation was really lopsided, some characters were never developed or jsut never changed , like Shindou, and others are really developed like Eiri. I think this scewed development resulted in making chacter interactions somewhat unbelievable. Eiri/Shindou pairing didn't make a lot of sense, it was really hard for me to see anything in their relationship resembling depth or interest (on the part of Eiri). What caused damage as well was the conflict between the two story lines, Bad Lucks rise to fame and Eiris' haunted past plus budding relationship.

| The main problem with most shonen-ai anime (and Gravitation as well) is that it completely wastes the particularity potential of its genre. I mean - you'd expect the authors to take advantage of the boy-boy motive, maybe let the main characters undergo some hardship because of their sexual orientation (because we all love stories about love withstanding such adversities). But instead, Gravitation is a mundane story about one character being a tall dominant stranger and the other one being a submissive innocent boy with big eyes.

| Gravitation is a pretty boring anime. It is a shounen-ai, but just because it's a shonen-ai, doesn't mean you can't watch it. It's an anime about music and love and how sometimes they don't mix together, but it's pretty boring, but if you like shonen ai then I recommend it for all of you.
Animations weren't bad for a 2000 anime. Actually they were amazing, I watched some other animes, that came out during the year 2000 and nothing matches the amazing animations of Gravitations.
The music in this anime was good, well maybe because it's an anime about music. The OP and ED were pretty decent, the songs the main character sings are ok (Except for The Rage Beat), and the songs the rival band sings are ok as well. The background music was played at the right spots and the songs fit the mood of the anime. The voice acting was pretty good, they all sound like they should be. The sounds were just ok.
The story was decent. The story is about a guy named Shindou Shuichi who dreams of being a famous singer. But on his road to become a singer, he encounters some problems in his career and falls in love with Yuki Eiri, a novelist who is very popular with the ladies. And they some problem appear, because they are both guys and the paparazzi is all talking about it. The story is decent, their wasn't too much drama. The plot goes up and down with some stuff we don't need to know, but that's ok. The ending was good, but not great. They could've added more to this anime, but they didn't.
The characters were cliche at some moments and dull at some moments.
Shindou Shuichi - He dreams of being a singer, but he also falls in love with Yuki Eiri. Shuichi brings some comedy into this anime and he's kinda annoying sometimes.
Eiri Yuki - A cold person who falls in love with Shindou Shuichi. He's a novelist with a dark past. (You'll find out later in the anime)
Everyone else was just minor characters to help the two lead characters fall in love.
Yes, there is character development in this anime and they do change a lot.
It's your choice if you want to buy this or watch it again.

| The first few episodes will leave you wondering how the series will end up. After the first shonen-ai kiss you'll get used to seeing the love-dovey scenes (no matter how brief) between Suichi and Yuki. Predictable ending, but you'll go "aww" a few times along the way.

| Superb...Just superb... Gravitation is the first shonen-ai anime that I have ever watched and I think that I won't watch shonen-ai anime anymore. Beacuse I want to remember that I have watched once a shounen-ai and I really liked it.
Shindou Shuuichi is a newcomer at singin and is trying to write a song. But when he is runnin through the park he bangs to a famous novellist called Yuki Eiri. The song falls straight to Yuki's hand who reads it and then rudely insults the writing of Shuuichi. Shuuichi can't get that consequence out of his mind and goes to Yuki's apartment asking for Yuki to forgive what he said. But when he meets Yuki something unespected happens.
I really liked the beginning of gravitation. The first two episodes were my favourites until the last episode. I didn't like the middle part of the series because they all were just practising the song and nothing happened between Yuki and Shuuichi. The end really surprised me and that's why I gave 9 at the story. It was a nice surprise. Gravitation doesn't have much flaws in it. The only flaw is that they practise the same song during the whole series but even that didn't irritate me.
The animation in gravitation is average. Although it is a series published 2000. The sounds are good, almost perfect. I really liked the opening song and I even listened the ending every time because it's good too. Voice acting is good and fits to the series. My favourite characters in this series are definetely Yuki Eiri and Sakuma Ryuuchi. And i liked also Shuiichi.
Overall Gravitation is a superb love-romance anime, if you just don't care about the shonen-ai. I will watch this series as many times as I can and I recommend this to everyone who likes to watch a good love-romance anime!! Gravitation Rules!!!

| Talk about getting the disappointment of your life. Well, maybe not of your life but... talk about being disappointed! That's how I felt after watching Gravitation. I probably had very high expectations regarding this anime, due to the numerous positive reviews I'd read. But still.
My first thought after watching it: loads of potential but very bad explored. Let's see why, shall we?
The story was terribly bad developed. It was "all over the place" really. Some episodes were perfectly trivial, nothing special about them, while others introduced us to a hidden story... better yet: other episodes threw chunks of hidden story at us.
In the end I felt like I had been in a rollercoaster ride or something. It was all so crazy and... scattered.
The thing is that this "hidden story" was supposed to be highly relevant to the relationship of the two main characters. But the problem was it it wasn't given as much importance as it should have had. The result? Loose ends, confusing story. Eiri's past was supposedly what was keeping him from having a relationship with the other guy, but they barely mentioned it in 13 episodes.
The plot also included the struggle of a young band to be aknowledged. But, once again, it was all so very vague. This part of the story seemed truly unimportant in some episodes.
Also, the other members of the group (besides the pink haired guy) seemed virtually non-existent most of the times. They were there only as mere "objects" with which the pink haired guy interacted. I mean, the guy wanted a shoulder to cry, you had one guy. He needed to vent you had another guy. And so on.
So to a vague and confusing story that doesn't seem to focus on anything in particular we can add a bad development of most characters.
The other characters (read: the main ones) were either pathetic (read: the pink haired guy) or just too damn broody and chiched (read: the blond guy, Eiri). Like the rest, they are bad developed. We know next to nothing about pink dumbness (read: the singer) and just enough to know why the blond one is an ass.
When I first laid eyes on Ri.. something (read pink haired singer) I thought he was like... 12? 14 at most. And then I thought: "Is this for real? Will I really watch a relationship between a 14 year old and a man of at least 20 something?". It turns out the singer is at least 18 (or more than 16 anyway). The point is I wouldn't have said so from his behavior. Not only did he act ridiculous most of the time, like is behavior managed to spoil every single dramatic moment in Gravitation. The only positive thing about this character is that he is persistent (in an annoying way). Why everyone was so fond of him in the anime is beyond me, really.
I liked the Eiri guy better. I've read somewhere, probably in some review that he managed to be a complete idiot but then, in the end (of the episode) he would do something sweet and so very cool. That is the best way to describe this character. ^^
Because this review is getting too long I wont say much about the rest of the characters. They were, most of them, a bit on the idiot side and not likeable at all (except for the red haired guy). They are not that important anyway!
Onto more positive aspects, I really liked the music/soundtrack. The music was light, lively, and so on. Above average sound. The animation was not bad at all, except for the character designs in a few episodes; it kind of seemed like the contours were made in... Paint? They looked a bit pixelated or something.
Well, overall (and I must be the only person alive who thinks this... or not) I think this anime is, at best, mediocre. It had potencial, it really did. It was just... bad developed that's all. Not that I hated it, mind you. I actually enjoyed watching it, laughed at pink beauty's dumbness and liked the yaoi goodness as much as the next fan. It's just that... I expected much more.

| Gravitation!!! My first Shonen-ai anime. I loved it, I really did. It's realistic as well. Two celerbraties in love, while the media is all over them harressing them, and there compitition using this secret of there relation in advantage. To black mail them and stuff. My one of my favourite animes along with "Sukina Mono wa Suki Dakara Shoga Nai".
I loved the charecters, everything was creative, hair styles, personalities, the story. Ryuuchi was a really surprising charecter, every time he sang, he looked all cold, but when he was with Suichi and the other guys, he acted so adorable, and cute.
The ending was a bit confusing, I still got it, but Yuki was in New York while Suichi was in Japan, wish they had been together in the last scene of the show, but still good.
The songs were great, I can't get them out of my head, and the meaning in the some episode were sweet. Although they didnt introduce Suichi's sister, like in the manga she was one o the main charecters, but you know how there's les detail in the show than the manga.
The humour was great, some parts made me burst out laughing. I wished the show would of been a bit longer, at least about 20 episodes instead of 13, but yet I still really enjoyed it.
Overall, I found this anime sweet, the charecters lovable, and the whole story pretty realistic, which is rare sometime because alot of animes have things to do with fantasies.

| Ah...Gravitation...
What can I say,it was my first shounen ai anime.
And it's still is my favorite along with "Loveless"
The animation is good. You probaly won't be left in awe,but it also certainly won't annoy you either.
Seeing it's a music anime, the sound had to be good. And it was.The song are very addictive and will get your attention surely.
The story...it was too short.I'm currently reading the manga series and it goes a lot more in to depth then the anime. So the anime is kinda dissapointing from that perspective.
This was actually the first anime that didn't have at least one character that I hated or even disliked, and that says something. The characters are all likeable in their own way.
You will defenitly laugh watching. While there is angst it mainly stays all good natured and bubbly. It doesn't get too complicated.
Which is why it makes it so good for a first try at shounen ai in my opinion.
Overall, try this one.You will not be left dissapointed!

| Ignoring the almost freakish images of Shuichi's costumes (dog, banana.... girl, etc.), Gravitation comes across as a wonderfully mature handling of a still socially uncomfortable subject. It's nice that the focus isn't on sex and is exactly where it should be, on the development of an unusual love made tougher not by the fact that they're both men, but that their personalities are so conflicting.
The depth of understanding in the series is plainly magnificent. My only issue with it is a sort of chopped-off ending. It doesn't leave you dissatisfied. You just want to know more.

| Aw, my everlasting love ^__^ Even though I’m aware of various weak points of this series, I still adore it without end. It can be a sentiment, but nevertheless this show doesn’t stop amusing me even after three years.
Characters are definitely the heart of Gravi. They are just so lovable and well-shown that I can’t help but love them senselessly. Cold, divine bastard Yuki, hyperactive, adorable Shu-chan, responsible, polite Hiro, crazy and ultra mad Ryuichi, gun-lover K-san, HIGHLY overstressed Sakano and many more…. But they just seem so at the beginning, and later on some secrets are revealed, which gives a better explanation of their attitude. I mean Yuki and rather only him. Because…
…. Because the anime is too short. Manga involves 12 volumes and the series contains merely 13 episodes, which is far too little to show everything. But it has the bright side, since the plot flows quickly, every episode is full of events and crazy humor and we just don’t have time to get bored. I doubt that it’d be so funny after 36 eps.
Animation is good, not splendid but good enough. And the music… Ah, the music kills. Overall this story is about wannabe (and not only) musicians so it has to contain some good songs. And it has plenty of them. Starting from Bad Luck’s pieces, to Nittle Grasper’s mad songs; they all are interesting and make you wanna dance and sing right away. Pity we don’t get a chance to hear ASK. I’d like to hear reason because of which Aizawa is so confident and stubborn. And damn son of a bitch, by the way. Pardon the language, but I hate him to guts.
Shonen-ai elements are sickeningly cute and sweet. It makes me melt, squeal and so on, it means, all the stuff a stereotypical fangirl should do. We don’t get to see much “action” and it’s good. It’s just not the kind of a show it’d be suitable for. Nonetheless, Yuki and Shuichi’s kisses are adoraaable.
Just like the whole series. Recommended. ^__^
Oh, and one more thing: seiyuus do prove their talent in this anime. Their acting is just awesome! I always love Japanese original dubbing, but in this series it is simply splendid. Almost every character is dubbed brilliantly. But just watch it and you’ll know.

| I really liked this. I am a big fan of the yaoi genre and I am sick to death of PWPs and no meaning, no climax, no story type of stories so watching GRAVITATION just made my day! I watched 13 episodes and the OVA all in one day. The leads have a very believable romance, they storyline of a young punk band trying to make it big in Tokyo is compelling, and its so damn FUNNY with lots of well-times komado moments! The fact that it is about a band also means that most j-popsters out there will adore its soundtrack which has Kotani Kinya singing some really cool songs. The voice acting of Shindou and Yuki was really spot on, and captured shades of complex emotion well. And finally, to prove its worth, I shall leave you with the words of my husband (yes, a straight guy actually watched this yaoi) who didn't mind watching this yaoi because he said, "They look as if they have genuine affection for each other." Aaw.

| Gravitation is certainly one of the most unique series I've seen--unique in terms of the music styles--and believe me, this is a solid music anime series (not as much as Beck however). But it also throws in the story of a relationship between the lead singer of a band and a popular romance novelist--sounds cliche? Unfortunately it is, yet I liked how both elements played upon each other--neither one stood out more than the other.
This is a yaoi/shounen-ai series (if you're strongly opposed to this type of anime...it's best to skip it), but seriously, the themes/scenes here aren't a big deal. Not when looking at the broader scheme of things. I found myself liking Gravitation, despite a few setbacks in terms of character and story.

| At first, I thought that I'm gonna puke if I watch this anime, but I was wrong. The relationship between the two guys was just like an art and it doesn't suck at all. Also, It's not the relationship between the guys that pushed me to watch this series, but the journey of an unpopular band to stardom.

| There is little that can be said of Gravitation that has not already been said. Gravitation has been the "shounen ai" flagship for many years, and it is well deserved. While other anime series lose themselves with complex storylines and characters, this one dazzles you with it's over-simplicity.
The story of a boy who longs to be a famous singer [who hasn't dreamt of that?] and equally longs to be loved by the person of his dreams [and who has not dreamt of this either?] the story barely deviates from this idea and therefore lacks the need to embellish or exaggerate the overall theme. If Jem & the Holograms were an all boy cast, this would be the result. Tho primarily a romance, there is a little sprinkling of action, drama and even mystery in there....not to mention comedy. This series is a welcome reprieve from the Myth and Mecha genre.
Animation and Character design again, are not deviating from the show's simplified formula using traditional *bish* design. Wherefore making it quite easy for each character to shift gender with just a few tweaks, primarily lead character, the pink-haired Shuichi, who frequently dons what one would normally designate as female couture. And there are others, who also seem to flirt with blurring gender lines. The movements were standard anime, and there are several scenes that are looped, which becomes repetitive, this show's only notable flaw.
What's a music show without music? The creators of this series provided us with 4 or 5 tracks which were outstanding. The first concert song by Shuichi/Bad Luck was phenomenal, couple this with the fact he sings this with his long time idol will make even the most skeptical anime watcher's heart melt. Opening and closing theme songs were a toe-tapping delight as well.
As this reviewer has stated earlier, there is nothing new about this series with regard to art, theme, or story and will not satisfy your needs if you are craving visual or intellectual stimulation. the true magic of this movie is how it makes you feel inside with it's simplicity. Kudos.

| The animation is really well done for its time. I have seen later ones with dated animation.
The sounds is cool , not bad at all.although they keep repeating that first single.
The english voice over is really well done.I loved their voices and they got the charcaters down as in the manga and the Japanese voice over .
I must admit i kinda like the anime vs the manga. The manga has too many annoying stuff in it.The story is basically a love story between an overly overt Shuichi and an intovert Eiri.I wonder how many heterosexual guys ever saw this anime, ( ore wa onna desu)and liked it or without saying "man ,this anime is gay!!!".
I agree this one feels rushed but is still very intertaining.

| As manga, Gravitation is the best shonen-ai out there. As anime, however, it seems a tad rushed.
We start the story off with the band of Shuichi and Hiro as a rising star already. For those who have read the manga, some important things have been left out of the anime version, so the anime should be reviewed as its very own title. You don't need the manga to understand the anime, but you may find the speed of things too high. Still, this is a title worth checking out.
Gravitation is, in short, entertaining. There's no denying it. It has all the elements - the animation is smooth, the sound is spectacular and the music deserves a special prize, the characters are easy to love or hate. The story itself seems a little bit rushed though. The 13 episodes are packed, literally. You don't get to see all the sarcasm Yuki has to offer, all the bittersweet moments Shuichi goes through with his lover, or all the twists the original story includes. The ending falls flat. Especially the romance of Shuichi and Yuki Eiri starts fast and goes forward fast. Gravitation is basically a romantic music comedy. The only thing wrong with it is that it's somewhat short. I for one would have liked to see more of this.
The OVA annexed to the TV series gives you more of the characters you loved, but has practically nothing to do with the series.
