| Another ninja anime that dissapointed me. I hated this anime so much. The animation was OK for it's time but the character and demon designs were pretty hard to look at. The english dub seemed really horrible to me and I din't really like the sub that much either. The subs were better though. There isn't much of a story to be seen here and the characters are very undeveloped as well. Some of the fight scenes at the beginning were good but it all wnet downhill after that. I still have yet to see another good true ninja anime besides Ninja Scroll.

| Blood Reign belongs in the same vein of anime as Ninja Scroll: it will either impress with its age or superficial maturity or disgust with its gratuitous violence. Blood Reign manages to be worse than Ninja Scroll, however, because of its story (or lack thereof) and the simple fact that I never did remember the main character’s name. Although it consists of two episodes, they are self-contained and only the second part has anything to do with what......animenfo has in its summary. The majority of the show consists of the forgettable main character killing monsters (he’ll kill a spider monster and ten seconds later he’s fighting a talking, blood-drinking horse) or saving hot women (well, they were probably hot in 1989) from more monsters. In the second episode, the OVA touches on some semblance of a plot: oh, talk of “transcending humanity” and “becoming a youma” are thrown around by the villain. You won’t care. In any case, the only people that could actively enjoy this slop are people that haven’t seen an anime before and are surprised that cartoons could have blood in it.

| I never really got the hang of the story here. The connection between the two episodes...I just don't know. There's something strange here. This is more like action and dark setting than really horror. It's gory action, the fighting scenes are pretty good, and there shouldn't be much to hate here, except getting the hang of the timing. I really enjoyed this. Something for teh action buffs.

| This was an anime I fell in love with. If you are an old anime lover like myself, and enjoy older anime, then you should enjoy this.
Everything was well executed. The soundtrack puts such strong feelings into me. The Animation is superb, if you can appreciate older anime. I enjoyed every minute of this anime, it was like being stroked by your girlfriend :D.
It did leave me thinking though, but thats not a bad thing.
Newer anime lovers, this anime may not be your thing, but to us guys who can appreciate the older anime, its a classic.

| It's good if you can appreciate classics, but as said before there where a lot of demon/horror animes that came out around the time, so it didnt get the respect it deserved.
The story is actually quite simple and easy to follow. Hikage is sent on a mission as a shinobi to track down and kill an old friend of his who has been posessed by demons, but for political reasons.
If you liked Wicked City, Demon City Shinjuku etc... you'll like this one too.
