| Handsome Na Kanojo is extremely negligible in my mind; I watched it quite a while ago and can barely remember anything about it. It is certainly not an original anime, nor is it one that makes a long-lasting impression on its viewer. The one thing I can remember is the catchy pop tune 'Egao wa Pokafeisu' that was used in the middle of the anime. It is important to note that, however, this OVA was used to advertise the manga and is pretty much a one-shot story from the series.
Animation and sound are very typical of its time; they are certainly lodged in the early 90s. Comparisons to Marmalade Boy are inevitable in the animation department, since the two animes do look quite alike. The vocal pieces are catchy and yet vapid J-pop, while the other music is very generic and not worth noting.
As a result of its lack of length, the story is highly compressed into the space of half an hour, which leaves for an extremely stilted presentation on all fronts. The characters receive their development quite awkwardly; they evolve in rapid bursts, pretty much taking a complete change in demeanor towards the end of the anime. The story itself, in addition to being poorly implemented and conceived in its format, is also unoriginal and wholly bland.
Still, Handsome na Kanojo is a notably short and reasonably enjoyable OVA series, and I wouldn't mind forking over the half hour even if I knew how it would turn out already. It is also worth noting that Mio is not particularly 'handsome', nor does she even look fourteen.

| This really bombed for me. Even compensating for the fact that it was produced 1989, the animation and sound are way below expectation, especially given that this is an OVA. Story is pathetic, cliche and not much in the way of highs and lows - practically no major conflict at all in the story, absolutely boring. Characters are shallow. Really not worth anyone's time at all.

| Corny, corny, corny, corny!!! This was sooo corny!! I hope the manga develops things better than this. To be quite frank, I don't understand using an OVA to promote. Who would pay for an OVA commercial? Why not just buy the cheaper manga and read that instead of buying the more expensive OVA and if you like it then buy the manga? Where's the sense in that? And this OVA was not good at all. The songs kinda suck, and whoever wrote them really didn't put any effort into it. Now, I'm not against this kind of anime. In fact, there are some that I really liked (Full Moon for example), but this just wasn't good, even considering it is only 35 or so minutes.

| This brief one-part OAV was made to promote the manga. Having not read the manga myself, I thought this anime was ok but could have been a bit longer ^_^;
There are quite a few songs made for this anime, though it is only 30 minutes long. The animation is a bit old but standable. I recommend it if you are a fan of this manga or just would like to see more shoujo anime.
