| I havent watched the anime.I thought that Basilisk would be a serious and realistic samurai title, but instead it turned out like Naruto.
So I admit that I did the wrong choice in picking this title and do not plan to watch the anime. I decided to read the title in case I found some redeeming features. There's also a novel but I'll skip that too.
The design is computer enhanced, like Gantz and this helps in the action and figt scenes a lot. Since the manga focuses mainly on the battles and less on the characters, I give it credit that the battles were amazing. The panels are large and the characters desing with many details and the shadows as well. Not as good as Vagabond, but it doesnt get unnoticed either. There's also some nudity and fanservice but I'm used to see this in such titles.
For the story, it starts as two rival clans break their truce and start eliminating each other one by one, till in the final volume only one of each clan remains. Each character has a unique ability and he/she uses this to his/her advantage. It feels as if you're watching Ninja Scroll on a manga and it certainly would have looked that way.
But the characters are too many so there's hardly any room for developement. Only the main couple could be considered the best characters, but this only in the final chapters.
It isnt the kind of the titles I like but if you like titles like Gantz and Tenjou Tenje, then Basilisk is the perfect title for you. It has many similarities with the titles above and adds the atmosphere of feudal Japan and ninjas.
I'll pass this title though.
