| "Great Teacher Onizuka" is one hilarious anime.
It might come off as "nothing more than a perverted teacher" at times, but it's so much more than that. Onizuka tries his best to teach his "bad" students about life. He even sometimes goes to the extreme.
This is one of the few anime that compelled me to watch the entire series in one sitting. Onizuka is a rather memorable character, and his actions make the anime shine.

| Great Teacher Onizuka is great, until it starts to drag on a bit. Further, it isn't the prettiest anime around.

| Great Teacher Onizuka is about a young teacher, Eikichi Onizuka, that was formerly the leader of a legendary biker gang. He may be idiotic and girl-crazy, but he is honest about it and gets things done in his own way. His greatest challenge is taming junior high class 3-4, the class that drove several teachers to quit their job. What truly makes this anime one of the greats is not only this original storyline, but really how I couldn't wait to see how Onizuka would get himself out of his latest bind. If you want a funny (even silly at times) story driven anime that will never leave you truly bored, check out Great Teacher Onizuka!

| The first thing I thought when I watched this series was "pervert..." I don't know of any other anime series short of hentai that would dare start with the series with an upskirt. To guys: be wary to make sure you're eyes don't follow the camera in GTO in real life...
GTO is a fairly enjoyable story about a former bike gang leader turned teacher. His struggles and the lessons he teaches his students go beyond that one would normally expect from a teacher, and that is what makes this series good. There is a bit of action and a good deal of humor but the main theme is Onizuka's relationship with his students.

| I absolutely LOVED this anime. This is probably my favourite anime.....or at least joint first :D. I'd just like to say after watching the anime I decided to read the manga since it expanded the story a lot more apparently. All I have to say is I stayed up 'til 3-4 in the morning blowing through 6-7 volumes a night which vastly added to my enjoyment of the series....sadly all I can give is a ten lol.
The animation was all right. The characters were drawn well and movements weren't quirky or awkward. However, this doesnt mean they were brilliant and the colouring was of pretty bad quality. I gave it an 8 despite this 'coz I eventually got used to it and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I thought the sound was perfect. Voice actors didnt over or under act any parts played. The first opening by L'Arc en Ciel perferctly describes GTO and even Onizuka Eikichi (the main character) himself. The endings and other opening were nice but they didnt' quite grab my attention as such.
The story is original but in general its fairly typical. Take a guy with a fairly extreme personality and put him in an environment that's purposely mismatched to create trouble. All the situations Onizuka gets into and how he gets out is hilarious and thats what differentiates GTO from other animes.
With a cast ranging from a slow thinking actress to a homocidal super genius, the characters are what (in my opinion) make GTO great. You can generally relate to at least one of Onizuka's crew and how Onizuka solves each of their problems is both amusing and heartfelt.
As I said, I absolutely loved this anime and I could quite literally just start watching any random episode and get re-absorbed back into the adventures of Onizuka. The characters in my opinion are what make this anime special. It's easy to get attached and even go through the same emotional journey. I personally think Onizuka is an inspirational role model hahaha, although some might disagree. Recommendable to everyone from the slow thinking actress to the homocidal genius.

| Apart from Slam Dunk,GTO had become the second anime which I watched 20 episodes in a row. Also,it has been some time since I enjoyed an anime so much.
First off,GTO is 43 episodes!I was turned off before watching but now I wanted it to be 53 or 63.Very interesting and addictive anime.Every episodes excluding some 'bad' ones keeps me advancing on and on and somehow I just don't want to stop.
Something I dislike about this anime would be that they develop the characters in an untidy way.Once they finished the 'focused' character story then they leave the character alone.Like the Yoshikawa's story part;he was introduced to you early in the series then after his story is done,he almost extincted for some episodes.Plus, they managed to end Miyabi's story with a bang but what is the meaning of the episode after that?Everything switched to Tomoko. Moreover, the episode after somehow changed to Fuyutsuki thinking of what to wear to Okinawa and so on...
Yea,the ending isn't so good too.Ending it off with Onizuka teaching in Canada and speaking English is not bad but I am not going to like it.It just didn't fulfill my desire.
I really enjoy my time watching this anime and I finished 2 episodes of the TV drama series too.GTO apparently don't just provides you with the humor but also want you to learn something from it too.To me,it is just too good to be real, aren't it.Nevertheless,GTO to me is already somewhat a masterpiece anime.

| overall of the this anime is that, to have a cool teacher like tat, to help other students in their problem, at same time save their student wen they are in trouble. smoking on top of school and fooling around in school (especially cosplay). so try to look at the story line a teacher used to b in a gang and now being a teacher. ya that cool

| I have read about half of the GTO manga, but I thought I'd watch the anime instead for some reason. The GTO anime IS good; very funny and somewhat heartwarming, but after being introduced by the manga, I actually was a little disappointed here. I'll definately go back to read the manga from start to finish, because I feel something is missing in the anime. Mainly sufficient character development.

| GTO is mainly a comedy. However almost in every episode a serious issue common among teenagers is dealt with. This anime manages to be raunchy and very over the top while also dealing with things like suicide, bullying, and family problems.
The show is pretty damn funny and it's worth watching for the humor alone. But it also weaves the interesting characters into a nice plot line that never gets old.
Only negative is the animation. While everything is drawn well enough (the girls especially) it's pretty below average by modern standards.

| The best teacher ever!!
Hilarious to the max, but a story that touches the heart
a must watch anime that teaches us life lessons and the troubles a young teacher must go through to gain the trust of his students
Although the intent and focus of this anime is clear, I felt this anime had so much more it could have offered if they had extended it 10 or so episodes, but it seemed like they rushed the ending.

| This anime is about an immature former bike gang member named Onizuka Eikichi, who decides that he wishes to be the greatest teacher in all of Japan. The story follows him through his attempts to reform his students and make school fun again. Meanwhile, his disaffected students, who have lost trust in all teachers, plot to have him fired through increasingly complex and sometimes shocking schemes.
While the plot is by no means a smooth ride and becomes increasingly convoluted by the end of the anime, the story is by no means boring or uninteresting. On the contrary, Onizuka's unpredictable nature make the story just as unpredictable; you will almost never be able to foresee Onizuka's actions ahead of time. This was very refreshing to me, as most anime are so predictable you are able to write the plot yourself after watching just a few episodes.
However, the ending is extremely open-ended and by no means gives resolution to the story. Which, after watching 43 episodes of the anime you think would be easy to obtain. Instead, this anime opts for a short comedic epilogue which will leave you frustrated and wanting for more.
Fortunately, it is not the plot but the characters which drive GTO. The incredibly diverse and large cast for this anime is extremely interesting, as each student in Onizuka's class and every teacher in the school is given personality and a role in the anime. While this means that some characters go through little development, most of the characters are entirely different at the end of the anime than they were when we first meet them, mostly due to their interactions and experiences with Onizuka, as shown throughout the anime.
Also, while most of the side characters are fairly stereotypical (Tomoko the slow, yet beautiful and busty girl; Kikuchi, the intelligent and deliberate computer hacker; Murai, the tough mamas boy; Yoshikawa, the wimpy boy; Fuyutsuki, the timid teacher; and many others) they are all interesting and play their roles well. By far my favorite side character is Urumi Kanzaki, whose intelligence and ferocity are extremely interesting to watch.
As for Onizuka himself, he is a real treat to watch due to his almost antihero nature. Unlike most anime heroes, who are usually the paradigm of the knight in shining armor with no flaws, and usually hide behind fake personas (ala Ruruoni Kenshin or Trigun) Onizuka is an outgoing and honest person who, while violent and brutish at times, always means what he says. Onizuka is the life of this anime, and through his antics (sometimes a bit questionable) and actions the plot is moved along, as he heals and helps each student one by one until they trust him and treat him as their teacher.
The animation for GTO is fairly dated and a bit unorthodox at times; for instance the bold lines and motionless quality of the facial expressions of characters, especially Onizuka, during close-ups when he is angry or unhappy. Poor CGI also shows up from time to time.
As for the soundtrack and the voice actors, both were terrific. You won't find a more distinguished and terrific crew of voice actors (see lion's review for the full list) and each did a tremendous job with their characters. While Onizuka's voice annoyed me at first, it eventually settled with me and really fit his personality.
This is probably one of the most well-reviewed anime this side of Fullmetal Alchemist, and for a good reason. The show is very interesting and easily enjoyable. I had no problem getting through the 43 episodes, and frankly I wish there were more to watch (especially if those new episodes provided some type of closure to the series!).
GTO is one of those anime which you will literally laugh out loud when watching at times, while in the same episode you may be shocked at some violent act. The diversity of both the characters and the plots and the unpredictable nature of Onizuka himself means this anime never gets boring or repetitive and you will enjoy every episode.

| I've really enjoyed Onizuka a lot, the story was definitely hilarious that it had me laugh for a good time. Also regardless the fact that the emphasis was more on a comical approach, i do however found it to be really deep. GTO is also in fact a slice of genre anime and it surrounds the concept between the lives of high school students and teachers.
Onizuka or should i say the Great onizuka is indeed the main character of this project. He used to be a delinquent, a guy with no goals but evidently as he grown old he tried a new approach of becoming a teacher. However being a teacher ins't an easy aspect in this world as the students alone refuse to obey any rules, let alone the teachers. At any case, Onizuka is also however a different type a person, the fact that he used to be a delinquent, he can handle any type of situation that the students could enroll against him, may it be pranks or anything else. The story's description is typically like any natural school life aspect, dealing with people going to school and and then that but everything is put throughout in comical way. I didn't quite like the ending as though it felt a little incomplete, the rest although the story seems a little vague i did enjoy it. I guess the overall fact why i enjoyed it was because of how deep Onizuka came in relation with his students.
I'm not too fond about the animation since the anime itself was made throughout the year of the 90s. The expression on their faces are a little too deformed, though it is only anime. Also the fact that at some point the image quality lacked colors or maybe it was just too dim.
I totally didn't like Onizuka's voice because he sounded much too perveted and old. The other voices performances were quite right though. The soundtracks were good and so were the Ops and Eds
GTO is an amazing hilarious anime. i have totally enjoyed it and so i really recommend it. Believe me you won't find anything funnier than this.

| gto had me laugh so often. i watched 15 eps in a row on a rainy day.
the story focuses on onizuka. he is a loser that doesnt know what to do with his life. so he decides to become a teacher because then he can peep at school girls and perhaps can have a 20 year old girl friend when he turn 40. thats his dream of life and he joins it with full force. he doesnt fit in in the society in school. onizuka makes many enemies on his first day and even makes fun of the vice-director. in the end he gets violent against the vice-president and forgets his dream of becoming a teacher. but in the end he gets the job because the director likes his attitude and she thinks he can show the pupils another side of learning besides studying.
gto is from 2000 and the animation leaves much to be desired. also the sound wasnt perfect.
you cant see a real story in gto. there is the teacher that always seeems to get fired but with some very honest and smart actions he turns away being fired. but there is always a moral in every story. like when he does the german suplex against the vice-director, he just wants to show that you can also be verbal violent.
who doesnt like onizuka. i think none is out there that aczually dislikes him. he is probably my fav character in all anime.
the enjoyment is huge. i watched it 3 times and i laugh always more though i know that this joke will happen now. the most funny scene is when onizuka gets bitten by a snake in his dick and wants another female teacher to suck it out.
an anime for everyone with nothing to worry. just watch it and laugh.

| A Perfect 10
The single goal of the story is for Onizuka to become the "Greatest Teacher ever." And he does suceed. It is basically about ONizuka wins and transforms, one by one, every member of his troublesome class. It is just a great anime to enjoy.
ANimation: 10
Probably the biggest surprise, but i feel it deserves a perfect. It true that there are must better techniques of animation out there, but this type of animation fits perfectly with the story. This story is supposed to real-life, down to earty story and that is what the animation makes it look like. The animation was just a ploy to make the animation feel more real.
Sound: 10
The opening songs and ending songs are very good and i liked them a lot. Unique and well done.
Story: 10
The best part. The writer is truely are master. the way this plays out is more of the episode kind, but i never thought about it until the end. that is because of the well kept transitions
Character: 10
Perfect. the show proves to do a superb job at letting everyones feeling out. I mean everyone. That is a good 30 people or even more. I'd seen an anime do that before
Value: 10
I will definitly rewatch it. I mean the show is just hilarious and really funny. Especially onizuka's expressions
Enjoyment: 10
You will laugh the entire time. A little crude, but that's what makes it hilarious.
However, this may be hard to believe, but the anime is incomplete. It leaves out like 80 chapters of manga where more characters are introduced and the ending is way more complete. i suggest that you pick up the manga after the anime around chap. 100 or so.

| GTO is 43 eps of school-life comedy goodness.
The animation is sub-par and the music's a bit mediocre but the characters are great and really spruce up the otherwise somewhat unimpressive story. What makes this series so enjoyable though is the humour. Except for a few touching scenes you'll be grinning if not laughing out loud throughout the series, and it's pretty awesome that way.

| GTO is one of my favourites because it has everything to offer in one anime. It has tons of laughter and touching moments that are sure to leave the viewer happy. Onizuka is also just plain cool, he is the prefect teacher and I am sure many (not only myself) wish they had a teacher as good as him.
It is a great story about a popular gang/ bike rider that decides he really wants to be a teacher after helping some delinquents out at some middle school. He joins another school where the vice principle is always out to get him fired (because he is from a second rate school with low grades), but somehow the great Onizuka always finds a way out even if his "methods" don't seem to be the proper ones.
He teaches a class that is full of pupils that hate teachers because they have all had bad experiences with them, although he slowly but surely wins them over due to his charm and crazy "methods" of teaching.
The only bad part of this anime is its ending, it was rushed due to the fact that the manga was still in progress and it had to be ended. I still think they could have given a more "conclusive ending" than the rushed garbage they delivered. Lucky the ending doesn't take away anything from this magical one of a kind masterpiece. Besides just go watch the live action series if you want an alternative/ more enjoyable ending.
All in all this is the best comedy I have seen, but it is not just a comedy - It also has its moments of life lessons and love moments that only adds to this series as being one of the greatest ever made.

| Great Teacher Onizuka- one of the best animes I've ever seen. I've never seen such an original anime before, compacting a lot of themes, morality, and at the same time delivers a protagonist who's silly yet noble at the same time.
GTO tells a story about a teacher who anyone who's watched this anime wants to be/wants to be taught by. Great Teacher Onizuka's story is very simple; his goal is to become the greatest teacher of all time. But is it really possible for an ex-gang bike leader? When Onizuka's actions answer this question, this is when his character really shines as one of the greatest anime characters of all time.
THe music is superb- fits the mood at all times, and i especially love the sax pieces. The characters are all well thought of, well in depth, and amazingly all of them remind you of your high school experience.
You must see this anime. Seriously.

| this anime was absolutely amazing, and hit it up with my "great anime" list.
GTO's main weakness is its weak animation. but honestly, this is an anime that doesn't rely on special effects to pull off a great story. throughout the anime, i was impressed with its excellent delivery, interesting characters, and a storyline that never dulled even once.
GTO is a rollercoaster ride anime that never gets boring, void of virtually any filler. the "feel" i kind of got from this was kind of like Hajime no Ippo in that the plot somehow kept being interesting.
the story is simple: Onizuka wants to be one of the best teachers ever. Can he do it? well i don't want to spoil any of this, but just believe when i say this anime is definetely worth watching.
the music was awesome, as i'm sure everyone will love the first opening. characters were memorable and enjoyment was a skyrocketing high.
admiteddly GTO can only go so far; though excellent on virtually all fronts, it can't really compare to an anime like Full metal alchemist. also you have to appreciate pervertedness, as this anime can get really purvy (ex: girls in their underwear). lets just say theres a lot of fanservice, which isn't necessarily a bad thing! but of course, it really depends on you. despite that, however, its definetely way up there
GTO = perfect combination of comedy and school life (drama), and will remain a personal fav of mine for all time
