| Just wanted to make a quick note since no one seems to have addressed this yet... if you intend to read the manga BEFORE the anime, assuming that you'll be able to judge whether the anime is worth watching or not from it... you are very much mistaken.
Seriously.
The manga and anime have very little in common. The story, concepts and ideas are quite different. Sure, we have the same characters, the same names, the same powers... but it's still quite different.
Especially the idea.
The anime and manga are both worth watching/reading--though I didn't rate the manga very high--however, they are to be enjoyed separately.
When comparing the two of them, I have to admit the manga concentrates a lot more on character development and backgrounds... something the anime rather lacked, but had the anime been two or three episodes longer, I think they would have been able to include at least that much.
Beautiful art. But, really, the fanservice gets rather annoying...

| This manga actually fell unexpectedly to my hard drive and one saturday afternoon i decided to give it a try. From the first page on i got hooked bad, not having watched the anime i really didn't know what to expect.
It starts off with some backstory on the main character Tate that has just arrived to Fuuka Academy. This is rather dark and mature, something i wasn't expecting. Plus the design was awesome, the girls are so beatifull drawn. It helps a lot the many echii moments. To say the least i was really hooked.
The main characters are interesting and have great backstorys. Other characters are really well developed, even when most of them lack a backstory.
The story feels really short, before eving falling into repetitive monster figths it speeds up to a final story arc which is deeply confusing. I´m still trying to figure out what hapened! In my opinion it rushes too much, the whole story feels rushed. Maybe the anime has something to do with this.
This manga made me download the anime, i really don't know why thougth. The anime after a first great ep, falls really short. The story shifts to a girly girly action series. Which i hate by the way. I can´t say how much i got disapointed by that! To think the manga comes from the anime and not the other way around!
Advice: if you like the manga stay away from the anime!

| I havent watched the Mai-Hime or Otome animes and decided to give the manga a look to see what the series is all about and whether it is worth downloading. After reading the manga I'm glad that I decided to do this first instead of wasting almost a week downloading the series.
If you're a fan of the animes the manga is a must-read since as in every manga the featured anime characters are represented with more nudity and look even better than the anime and have a much greater sex appeal. the story is also different than the anime, though I wasnt the least interested in it. The story was uninspiring and ridiculous and I skipped some pages, just looking at the pictures, even though it was just 5 volumes.
The only interesting thing were the female characters. The design was very good and even if I didnt watch the anime I found them very attractive.
strictly for mai-hime fans. For everyone else I'd recommend skipping this title or read it just if you'd like to see what Mai-Hime is all about without having to watch the series.
I've seen enough of that type of animes and mangas already.
Just hope I dont change my mind later. The girls were so well designed after all that I may do a stupidity later on and watch the anime.
