let me first say the obvious: i'm a digimon fan. (required for enjoying any season)

this digimon series blew me away: i watched with very high suspicion, only pushed forward by the high ratings of the anime. i coudln't handle it. how could the original digidestined be changed. they'd better pull off something.. AND THEY DID.

totally original; now that i think about it, season 3 CRUSHES season 2 in every aspect. season 1 was pretty amazing in its memorable characters and themes, but i coudln't believe it. season 3, overall, beats season 1!
whats the improvement: first off obviously is animation. second is sound. no more 'hey digimon hey digimon...'. now we have rock stuff playing thats actually more than tolerable. also much less corny stuff. a LOT MORE adult related themes, and i know some ppl think i'm crazy for saying this but, the dub was nice. i actualy enjoyed the voices and the songs
story wise omg, it went up 3x better. no more 'super duper humongous evolution' that wipes out everything. now its brains, and sadly, requiring of many sacrifices (like real life).
i woudln't say digimon is realistic .... however, this one was the most believable of all three. the story line, improved music, better animation, and memorable awesome character development made this the best season so far.

its not perfec tho: keep in mind it follows the same trends as the other 2 digimon seasons. it starts good, then gets stallish in the middle/bad, then skyrockets to good in the end. its just that in season 3, it starts awesome, falls to only average, then skyrockets to unbelievable.
my only complaints are 1. the stalling episodes in the middle, and 2. the fact that ending is literally 4 minutes long. wayy too short. not enough time to give the satisfaction of a good ending.

but besides the imperfect ending (but far more realistic than the first 2 seasons!), we got a good new digimon addition that is just downright cool; i coudln't believe that it ended, and kinda wished season 4 was a continuation of 3.... but o well, now off to digimon frontier (4th season), and hopefullly, digimon will continue to impress....

ok... this was one of the first animes i have ever seen, so it's impossible for me to be objective (you never forget your first one.. :)

i liked many things about this anime: the way those kids interacted with their partners, the music, and the story (it wasn't complicated, but i think the characters were more important then the storyline). it was nice to see how kids became heroes.

the last 20 episodes were really good, a mix of emotions and action, presenting a darker and more realistic story then the first two seasons. even the ending isn't the well known happy world, happy tamers, happy digimon theme...

so, if you wanna watch some digimon, then watch this one, because it's much better then the other 3!

Animation- the animation is fair enough for an anime, pretty decent 3d work for the digivolution, nothing special.

Sound- Repeditive, but lively each time, it works according to mood.

Story- the story is more interesting than the other repeating digimon series. takato, a young boy with dreams of owning a digimon just like any other kid. then one day he discovers a blue card and slices it through his card scanner, it malfonctions and turns into a digivice. hardly believing his eyes, takato slashes his invented digimon on a notepad through it and poof! or more precisly.... ummm alot of light whoosh!... guilmon comes alive. soon takato relizes he isn't the only one with a digimon. there's henry, with terriermon, and rika with renamon.
so compared to the other digimon series with a group of 10 being blasted into the digi-world, i must say this is a well done story line, for a digimon series.

Character- Takato, still the original determined main character, but he's pretty much a crybaby. Henry's more mature of the group, and Rika is.... stubborn and convinced she and Renamon are the best pair.

Value- quite alot of episodes, 51. but defiantly a must for any digimon lover. not like me, im much too old for digimon now. lol

Enjoyment- i havn't seen it for ages, but i really enjoyed this series. more of a bang compared to the others. I actually enjoyed this Anime much much more than the other series of Digimon.

Digimon Tamers succeeds compared to the second series because it doesn't try too hard to be "cool" or "flashy". It starts on a new slate with original characters and evolutions. It gives off a very strong science-fiction feel that the others didn't have too much of. They felt more 'fantasy" like. The new director's influence shines through. This series is enjoyable because it puts the characters in the position of the audience- people playing the cards and watching the TV show. The audience feels more like this story is about them, not a bunch of random kids. I mean, who didn't invent some kind of digimon for themselves? I know I did. The script is very tight and the story arcs are not as ridiculous (War Greymon arc much?) than the last series.

(I'll edit this more later I just need to get it out of the "delete" worthy position)

My second favorite of the "Digimon" series. This series takes place in the "real world", which automatically gives it points for not continuing the already-overdone storyline of the previous two series. Although the series starts out like the previous two, it has so much more depth than the others. If you watch any "Digimon" series, watch this one.

I agree , the best Digimon series . what i liked the most about this series was that the people can integrate with their superiors ,and become really nice looking digimons .

people who know me , know that i hate cards , but even though there were cards in this show , it was somehwat interesting.

the animation is decent . what more can i say? nothing i guess :P

the characters here got the best design among the Digimon series' . but there are some characters that reminds some of the characters from the first&second seasons , though .

the story , as usuall is about saving the world , and fighting against the evil digimons . because this show was made for kids , the story is not supposed to be complicated , so , i'm OK with the story.

so , in the end , this show is for kids . it can be enjoyable for kids below the age 12 , but also can be enjoyable for kids above the age 12 . well , as for me , i enjoyed watching this series when i was a little bit younger , but i guess watching this one more time wouldn't be bad . i don't really reccomend this , but if you wanna watch some kiddie series and don't have something to watch , you can try watching this.

My faviourite digimon series, watched it a while ago, and liked it at the time. The third season is quite unlike the previous 2, as it supposely happened in the "real world," which brings in a nice little twist in the story. There are quite a bit of references to the previous seasons as the "popular anime that everyone watches." Sounds kinda lame, but it's a refreshing idea.

Animation is slightly above average for 2001, sound was okay, nothing impressive or memorable. I liked the story of this one, and it does get alot darker near the end. Characters are decent, and have distinct developments.

As for value and enjoyable, it was pretty enjoyable to me few years ago, probably not so now, but I would still recommend it for early teens.

This is where it all went pear shaped for the digimon series, any current (14th Aug 2004) digimon animes made after this one was all rather broing and for me, nowhere near as good as the original.

The looks have become different, more kiddy like and the story, well, it felt as if they are trying desperately to change the digimon series and as if it’s bottom of the barrel stuff. Digimon had quite a few serious parts but this just looked and felt to relaxed and dumb.

Honestly, when you have already made 100+ episodes, you really got to pull something out special to continue the success, this was, IMO, targeted at smaller kids, which was in fact the wrong move, as the followers get older, surely you have to have more mature stuff, like Dragonball, which followed this rules, with Dragonball Z much more serious than original, digimon failed here.

If you are a fan of the original, then I guess you may want to watch this and see what it’s like, my advice is DON’T, it’s not the digimon I remember. But if you really want to, then go ahead, basically more digimon, but worse.

Being an enourmous fan of Digimon seasons one and two, I quickly followed into the third one and enjoyed it immensely. With new characters and a twist on the story, it kept me interested through the entire series.

Okay, so you have your usual goggle boy. Yes, there is an expected pattern. However, the other characters that appear as the series begins make you think that they is something up. A good example is Ruki, who is the first character in the history of Digimon who was downright ruthless in almost every way.

More of my comments are in the optional field. To end it off, if you have been a hardcore Digimon and have not seen Tamers, you are definately missing out. With it now dealing in the real world, you can expect surprises and an interesting plot.

I found the first half of this fourth season digimon to be an incredible show. One of the main reasons I found it to be so good is that the characters were extremely realistic, and everyone evolves and develops extremely well.

From the primary heroes, to their digimon, including their parents and even their siblings, the cast is large, diverse, and exceptionally well presented with a lifelike flair that made me feel as though the reality were possible.

Unfortunately, overall I found the second half boring. I'm not sure exactly why, but I believe that the show became a bit didactic and uninteresting in the second half of the season. I'm not really sure, but for some reason I began losing interest towards the end.

Still, that first half... and even a good bit of the second... is just incredible.

This was my second fav season! the plot wasn't as good as the first one but it was a rather good season to watch =) The digimons are cute the main character Takato is rather stupid sometimes but he is an ok char. kinda funny =) Henry was ok not my fav character.. and Rika shes my FAV char shes so cool, though, strong, and i really like her boy-friend(^.~) Ryu they make such a kawaii couple! The end of this season was very very good indeed thought in the last epi. it showed that the digimons left but i think they will come back after all there are 2 movies for that season that i still haven't watched so i think they'll come back^^

I recoment this season and the first one! they are the best^^

Season 03 of Digimon doesn't make a good start but then gets a lot better after episode 30. The last saga with D-Reaper is super awesome and dramatic. I really liked it and I think that's the best Digimon season.

The story was totally different from the seasons one and two because this seems to be the real people in the real world, unlike the seasons one and two which happened to be a TV show in season three. The characters show great personalities, all of them different. This was one of those better seasons than the others.

Digimon Tamers represents the best of the Digimon franchise, with an entertaining story, rich characters, and a consistent, fast, fun pace that makes this an amazingly enjoyable series that I recommend, even if you haven't liked the previous two Digimon series. Both the English and Japanese versions feature great voice actors that really suit their rolls, and the English version left a surprising amount of the "real life situations" in-tact.... something you rarely see on TV in the United States on kids' series. I applaud Saban for taking risks with this one, and I applaud Toei for doing such a great job on this!

I highly recommend that all who are into anime at least check this out a little, and I'd go so far as to say it's required viewing for fans of shonen action series.

This totally makes up for the previous season.
With this, they decided to do a clean slate and forgot about the first two seasons.
But out of all the digimon shows the best character acting of digimon but not the best non-digimon acting. But like all the seasons the exaggeration is there like a rebel digimon must have a thug accent-_-
Btw, was it me or did the whole D-Reaper blob thing remind anyone near the end of Berserk with the eclipse?
*shivers*

I've been a fan of Digimon since the begginning and i was a bit worried about them getting rid of the previous characters. I'll start off...

Guilmons VA got on my nerves, but this only due to the English one, the japanese is the same one who did Goku from Dragon Ball, which made me laugh, but overall pretty good.

The beginning of the series was a bit stupid, there were so many things like "Why didn't you just use the warp evolution card?" and "Why do you walk around with your digimon, isn't it obvious their real?" Kinda stuff like that, but after a while if you just forget that.

Story wise it was really good, it's not really until half-way that everything really comes into place and you start to get a feel for the characters, which up until this point you couldn't really care about. But the last few episodes were really great, even for the dub, i really enojed it all. I just wish I had a digimon to matrix evolve with XD

Overall, it's a great series that's really underatted, but takes some effort to get into. But I assure you, it's worth it.

At the risk of declaring myself a Digimon Sympathetic, I will not be giving this anime the standard crap review, as most of my fellow reviewers have done here.

Now, as a pre-review note, these ratings are based on the Japanese version of this anime. I have nothing glaringly bad to say about the dub, but it just wasn't quite up to par, especially in terms of its music, which is possibly this series' strongest point.

In terms of story and characters, they fall well within the borders of anime mediocrity: The energetic youth who doesn't want to believe anything is beyond his grasp; the moody, brooding thinker who questions the idea of fighting and killing; and the cold hearted "warrior" who obsesses over her own idea of fighting perfection. The only wrinkle in this formulaic approach is that they've all got digital monsters tagging around after them.

Plot advancement is about average for your typical long anime and actually moves toward a point, maybe a rising action every ten or so episodes. The final eleven episodes all play out in a rush of action and story, which actually make the climax something that you can enjoy, unlike its previous two series, which blur it all together in a couple of episodes.

As I mentioned before, the Tamers music was probably its strongest point. Just browse for Biggest Dreamer by Wada Kouji and maybe Slash! by Oota Michihiko if you care why I think so.

Basically, if you can't enjoy little kids running around with fairly cute monsters, then I don't think you should bother with this anime. For those of you who can keep an open enough mind to explore this anime a little further, you might find yourself surprised.

Well since the people before me don't know how to actually grade anime, I guess I will. Well the animation is pretty good, in some parts though it was pretty crappy. I always like Digmon...well expect for the first 2 seasons, they just keep on adding characters and their wasn't much development. But with this season their's was six to start out with, but they added more as it went on, so that kind of suck. But they basically stick to maintain the three main characters to have development. I like it a lot, guess I'm still a kid at heart ^_^

What confuses me is if these people watch the first two seasons, why did they bother watching the third season or second season for that reason? Guess they hated the first season so much they didn't bother watching it and just wanted to grade it badly.

note: It's rewatch value isn't that great since their's so many episodes.
