| Before watching Tokyo Mew Mew, I was given a rundown of the show: It's about superhero girls from junior high. Everyone is named after food, and possesses the powers of endangered animals. They fight elfish aliens week after week, and the animations for character transformations and abilities quickly become an annoyance. Sounded kinda goofy to me.
Having seen it, I must say all of this is entirely true. However, Tokyo Mew Mew is MUCH better than it appears on paper. Sure, animation sequences are reused, but they're also--along with the art design in general--gorgeous. The freak-of-the-week storylines wear thin at points, but the broader story arcs of the main characters keep you guessing, and later, on the edge of your seat.
At its heart, Tokyo Mew Mew has a lovingly crafted cast of characters, which in my opinion is most important in storytelling. When asked who my favorite character is, I'm stumped. Ichigo and Aoyama are obvious choices, but when given their chance to shine, Pudding, Zakuro, Lettuce, Shirogane, and even Kishu and Taruto prove equally endearing. Such a strong ensemble cast is a rarity, so it doesn't surprise me to find Tokyo Mew Mew among my personal favorites.

| Before I go any further I will admit to my biased attitude towards magical girl anime (I have watched anything and everything!!), so this review will be totally subjective and very biased towards the genre ^__^
As magical girl anime go Tokyo Mew Mew is up there with the best: Sailor Moon, Wedding Peach, CCS and Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne. It has all the right ingredients for a perfect magical girl story, a wonderful and very heart-warming romance, fantastic baddies, cool looking monters of the week and when you add the cast of wonderful characters, the whole lot makes for a very tasty treat.
This is very typical of a true shoujo anime, with cliched cuteness and a wonderful "And they lived happily ever after...." ending and fans of mahou shoujo should check this out now!

| Overall, it is a pretty good anime. It is typical in some ways, like the main characters, but it does have a very unique outcome and story line.
It is very colorful I must say.
The creators did a good job at deciphering which characters to leave unexplored and which to develop. They also made the story in such a way that watching it again is almost as enjoyable, if not as enjoyable as the first time around. The second time seems to give a different feeling because one feels omnicient as in knowing the characters' futures, but also like the are watching it for the first time when they see little "hints" of the future they didn't recognize before. Also, the second time around, you see the characters in a new light that gives a different feel to the show.
I really recommend this.

| Ahh the good catgirl magical girl anime. This one is typical magical show or you can even call it mini sailormoon.
Shoujo always been my fav genre and this one is no differnt. They got a good start, instead of form all members in the first ep, it take time for about 10 eps to get all together and finally took off to fight evil monster. Story about saving the earth was not new but it mixed with aliens well. Protect animal&nature give a nice touch to the younger audien. Transformation sequence is a little bit long and a little bit overused. Not many cool attacks either. No ecchi scene, but instead they offer a pure cutes shoujo romance. Story got a bit slow in the middle. They didn't finish some side char they started. Character animation is one of the good point. Color get more saturate in mew mew mode. I love the eye that sparking like real cystal glass.
Nice shoujo magical girl show. Good for all shoujo anime fan.

| This anime may remind people of the Sailormoon series, but that is not where it slips and falls down.
Firstly, the storyline is not very engaging to begin with because the plot is not developed and it's pretty much a 2D battle between good and evil. And since no one ever 'dies' in this anime, the bad guys will eventually become good. It's all like a readable cycle, and that is not a good trait for any anime to have.
Tokyo Mew Mew's animation did not impress me because they always reused exactly the same scenes over and over again (e.g. during their transformation, or when they used their techniques...etc). The drawing was mostly okay but tended to slip in terms of attention to details.
The characters all have their own personalities and the whole friendship thing between Ichigo and her four friends gives a feeling of warmth and belonging, yet the depth in which they express those emotions are almost like child's play. Basically, it's the 'if we work together we can do anything' type of outlook. Simple but not so cleanly conveyed.

| In the technical department Mew Mew Power overtakes the likes of Sailor Moon, but Tokyo Mew Mew lacks Sailor Moon’s originality, creepy looking villains and memorable transformation sequences. It's hard to say which one is better- at least Tokyo Mew Mew has 50 episodes and not two billion, but the lack of original character destroy it completely.
I'm not going to lie. Tokyo Mew Mew is mildly entertaining and addictive, but worth skipping in the long run. Having the repetitive “monster of the episode” theme, and filler mania half way through, TMM can get incredibly boring- very easily.
Obviously I'm not the target audience, so I can only review it objectively to a point. Kids won't notice the flaws in it anyway. But 4Kids has changed the songs, the character names, the themes. I don't mind the changes, but the voices aren't too good!

| This is a very good and fun anime! The animation is very colorful and cute. The music in the JAPANESE version is very hyper and upbeat. The story is kind of unoriginal, but interesting. Anyhow, unlike most people, I like this anime. I think it's good. Japanese Version, thumbs up. English Version, BELCH. However, later on in the series it gets SO boring and repeative, that you will throw it away by time Zakuro arrives. There is so many filler episodes!
+The animation is very bright. It seems like a colorful version of Sailor Moon, if you ask me.
-However it is very kiddy, and the colors hurt my eyes. Also, it is very limited. Same movements over and over again, or they do not move at all.
JAPANESE
+Sound in the Japanese version is very hyper, upbeat, and fun.
-It gets annoying way too fast for this many episodes.
ENGLISH
+Uh...
-It sucks sucks sucks. The music is so stupid, seriously, how does it go? TEAM UP!! YAAAY! PUT YOUR HAND IN MINE IT'S THE PERFECT FIT!! -0-; Don't listen.
+It seems to be a fun storyline and if I hadn't read the manga, I would be excited about what happened next.
-Well this is no different than other magical girls. Only difference is they're animals. It is VERY used already.
+The character designs are very cute.
-It's okay. I think when they try too hard to make distinct personalities it's a little too... bleh.
+Um.. no, there is nothing I can really say that is good about this.
-The translation was bad! What's with the names? ZOE? KIKI? BRIDGETTE? <-Can I get that in bold please? And why'd they have to change the songs?! I mean, I can understand names, but why the song?! WAHHHHH! And there voices, SO annoying.

| Must see if you like sailor Moon or Wedding Peach DX(not the regular series, the OVA!)
Ichigo is cute, clumsy, identifiable with, and well-written. Her cat ears and tail popping out lead to humour and craziness. Lettuce and Pudding irritate me, but Masha is adorable! I have seen up to episode 26 and I can't wait for more!
I think it will only get better as the girls age and mature.
I love it!

| Tokyo Mew Mew is one of those really cute animes ^_^. Its true that its very sailormoon-like but like it has been mentioned before, its merely the same genre. I cant really place it. For some reason, this anime just got me smiling :), nothing is exceptional about it other than this i believe. In fact, i dont like sailor moon at all, so i guess it must be my affection for anime cat-girls ;) that makes me rate this so high. All in all, a good anime, but definetely targeting a younger audience.

| Tokyo Mew Mew is a classic "Magical Girl"-Series in which five girls get the ability to combine their DNA with an endangered animal. With this new powers they fight "for the future of the earth". Nothing special here! :-)
About my rating and the other reviews:
First of all: Only Mew Ichigo is a cat. Every character represents another endangered animal. So it's not just a "girls-go-kitty-style"-series.
As I began watching this series, i also thought it was too childish and to colorful, but at episode 10 "Tokyo Mew Mew" really took off by introducing the character of Mew Zakuro. From this point on the characters gain more depth and profile and it's actually fun to watch.
The similarities to Sailormoon seem obvious, but in the end, they are just two series from the same genre. It's logical that there are similar ideas behind it.
Just like every car has a steering wheel, every magical girl-series has a leader, which is stronger than the others. That's just the way it has to be.
"Tokyo Mew Mew" is clearly targeting a younger audience, because it's all very cute and colorful. Nonetheless the story develops a certain depth and is definetely worth watching it.

| Tokyo Mew Mew is the latest magical girl TV series. Sometimes I want to think that it's like Sailor Moon but it isn't. It actually seems better than Sailor Moon at some points. The only problem is that this anime is not the best. See it if you have time though.

| I found this series by chance, and it interested me as it was the first Sailormoon clone I had seen in six years. Up to the point I've seen, it is quite enjoyable, with nice humor and cute character design. The lower number of episodes (compared to SM) helps also, as it reduces filler episodes. I'd recommend it to any fans of the "magical girl" genre.

| I am being repetitive, but yes, "cute" is the operative word for this series, although I think the comparisons to Salior Moon are off base by a bit. Yes, this is a magical girl anime: it is a bit cheesy and contrived, and the plots tend to be fairly formula-based and predictable. But other than sharing the same magical girl genre, I think this show is following a different path than the much-maligned Salior Moon.
