Overall
Love Hina is pure anime. Purity in its damned purest form. And for this reason, we're seduced as viewers into the world of medically insane characters and abnormally large eyes. Impossible in the real word is more than possible in the anime world created by Love Hina. I could jump into the anime world with a shotgun and shoot Mr. Keitaro, our protagonist, and he would still be unscathed. However, if I were to roll a giant onion on to his leg, it would immediately be broken.

Unbelievable characters aren't unreasonable though. This is why we all love anime (right?). Ever since the release of cinema, we've all been taken away by the fantasies of fantasy and the dreams within dreams. We all love Superman, but he's not real (seriously) after all.

I love Lova Hina because it isn't serious at all. It's the opposite of an anime like KGNE, and yet, it still maintains some kind of suave texture to it. Given, the animation is grainy and inconsistent at times, and the story is circuitous at best, but the characters are fantastic - again, I mean fantastic in the archaic sense of being full of fantasy.

We laugh when Keitaro gets hurt, a hand-me-down technique from Mr. Chaplin, and we cry when a relationship is broken, an even older technique from Mr. Shakespeare. I laughed and cried (hehe - I'm kidding about this part) when I watched Love Hina because this is great anime.

Now, I'm rating this anime based on my own opinion of this anime as if it existed in a world all by itself with no other peers. This is not a comparison, but an evaluation. Standing by itself, Love Hina is a beautiful story that exhibits love with comedy as its primary vehicle. Love Hina by itself is also incomplete: the anime never really kept up with the manga, so I had to read the Love Hina manga to find out what ever happened to the characters at the end.

But then on the second day, God created the "Love Hina Christmas Special." On the third day, He created the "Love Hina Spring Special." Then on the fourth day, He created the "Love Hina OVA" On the fifth and sixth days, He sat back and watched His creation and He saw that it was good and on the seventh day of course, He rested.

I watched this anime too, and I'd have to say that it's divine.
